Today we kickstarted the course by getting a sense of what the scope of the class and the concept of persuasion is.
We asked students to submit their first impressions or understandings of what it means to persuade. Below is the image that shows the resulting world cloud that we collaboratively generated.

As we can see, we reflected on what “convincing” means and the extent to which this would imply having others agree with us. In addition, we talked about the breadth of ways in which change or influence can happen, from opinions or ideas to actual actions, behaviors.

After that, we asked students to gather in groups and explore the campus to find examples of elements that they thought were persuading them to do something or think differently about something. You can have a look at the photos and elements that they identified on our blog.
